About Turhan Von Brandon
Began painting and drawing around 1952, began photography in 1966. Have received local, state, and international awards for photography and the technical quality of the photographic print. I began the formal study of painting and drawing at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers New York around the age of eight. I continued my art studies at Howard University in Washington DC., where I began studying photography. I continued my photographic studied while in the Arny and stationed in Wurzburg Germany with a local professional photographer and with the New York Institute of Photography.
I tend to concentrate on landscapes and flower portraits. I am now reverting back to my painting beginnings by converting the photographic image to photo paintings with the use of software and filters. The images in the Photo Art and the Paintings Galleries are examples of the conversions.
Most of my landscape have been created by capturing multiple high resolution images that are then stitched and blended together to created a very large landscape image file. This new file can then be manipulated to give me a final result or results that I am trying to achieve. It is much easier to make a small file from a large file than try to achieve a large file from a small file. I will often paint over the completed image firstly to protect the image, and secondly, to add additional texture and/or brush strokes to the image to make it look more like a painting. I do enjoy the creative process using the tools, camera, computer, software, printer, paints and brushes, at my disposal. I often say, "I have a very large sand box, and I love playing in it".
My image warehouse of photographs and digital/computer paintings can be found at http"//tvbphoto.smugmug.com. My e-mail is tvbphoto@aol.com.
